Fukuya Rusk Pollack Roe Flavor
If you have looked into Japanese cuisine past the mandatory sushi, tempura, and ramen, you know that the spectrum is enormous, especially when it comes to seafood: besides fish, the Japanese eat dozens of different shellfish, seaweeds, and any other possible byproduct of all of the above. That, of course, includes roe and not just caviar: particularly popular in Japan is pollack roe (mentaiko), which is exactly what gives the Fukuya Rusk Pollack Roe Flavor its special taste! Fukuoka Prefecture is considered Japan's mentaiko capital and the Fukuya Rusk Pollack Roe Flavor is produced there by a local company in business since 1948. The box contains two packs of Fukuya's rusks for a total of 12 rusks: six sugar-flavored and six garlic flavored. The combination is amazingly delicious as the spiciness of the roe blends with either sugar or garlic for a mix that tastes like nothing you have ever tried before. Plus the whole thing comes in vintage packaging echoing the days when Fukuya was founded and Japan's postwar economic miracle was starting!
